Michael (Mike) Jupp (Born in 1948 in Tonbridge, Kent, United Kingdom) is an English cartoonist, designer and illustrator.
Jupp studied at the West Sussex College of Art and Design at Worthing, West Sussex gaining qualifications in Art and Animation, plus diplomas in Art and Advertising Design. Jupp started his career in London working for E.F. McDonald, an American design and marketing company. Later he freelanced as an illustrator, copywriter, and cartoonist before traveling abroad to work. He first traveled to Holland, before going on to California to work on two cartoon film series. Mike then worked in Seoul, South Korea, before returning to San Francisco and then back home to England in 1986.[1]
Jupp worked as an art director for two Dutch cartoon series, The Bluffers in the late 1980s, Sebastian Star Bear in 1991. He also did the storyboard for the first five minutes of the film Howard the Duck.[2]
Jupp created the original concept and design for the British cartoon series The Dreamstone, which was screened on ITV and ran for four series of 13 episodes between 1990 and 1995. He also created the ITV series Bimble's Bucket that ran for 45 episodes from 1996-98.
Jupp designs cartoon Jigsaw puzzles, including the best-selling, I Love... series for Waddingtons/ Gibson Games. He is the author of a book called Retribution.
Currently he lives in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, United Kingdom.
